I was born and raised in the Pennsylvania Appalachian Mountains.  This cultural heritage has inertia and a weight that is unique, ugly, and beautiful.  Art is a way of living and seeing the world.  I paint with an inherent technique that is derived from growing up working on local farms.  Connection to the soil is evident in the process of grinding tea leaves, coffee, water, and grass into the canvas (soil) - "Farm to Canvas".  I coined this phrase to give a name to my process.
